Another beautiful sunrise with a day of excitement ahead. Of course there is always time for some goofy shots before heading off to help ensure the last day of racing runs smoothly. 

Morning dawned with a gorgeous sunrise and plenty to be thankful for. Competitors have left because of hurricane damage or to care for family. It is hard to feel sad when others have far graver worries.

The race is over for us and one of our other teammates but not for four other Hume Media teams. So are doing all we can to support them and the rest of the competitors at Targa Newfoundland.

Day 2 we maintained a tight lead and set ourselves apart for first place up until the 2nd last race of the day. At the start of this race, a combination of unfortunate events put us out of the race for good.

We maintained our 1st position in GT division. Today speeds increased to 105 km and a top speed of 145 km on country winding highways and through town with rain. Sounds crazy but we are calm.

Today we had opening ceremonies and prologue races (trials for race position tomorrow.) Out of 11 competitors in the GT class we have tied for first with two other teams. Amazing!

Yesterday we met with most of the team and today has been busy with safety checks, charging gear, team meetings, meeting our Centennial College mechanic team and attending the welcome reception.

We cleaned up at the awards earning the 3 minute plate for under 3 minutes in penalties, a top team award, took 3rd in our division and won rookie of the year. Outstanding!

We nailed the morning races with 0 penalties. A trail of transmission fluid covered with kitty litter accented the start to our after lunch race. The perfect kick-off for 'The Incident'.

Our challenges today included increased speeds and our first race into a town. Timing was everything. . . . and we may not have gotten it quite right.

We consistently get slapped with massive penalties that we haven't earned. This means late nights reviewing in-car video to prove our case, then up early to be ready to race.

The Newfoundland scenery is simply stunning and we are simply blown away by the host towns who have welcomed us. Now to figure out the racing!
